Distressed Technique Butterfly Card

My best friend Sheila and I had the most wonderful time making this card for my son Patrick and her daughter Sarah.  We are celebrating her final year of pharmacy school and his recent B.S degree.  How proud we are of them...

The idea of the card came from the March 2012 magazine Stampin' Success. Wonderful publication that you receive when you are a demonstrator.

We started with a plain sheet of whisper white card stock and painted it with some blue acrylic paint.  When the card stock was dry, we embossed the card stock using the Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Next we took a sponge dauber and soft suede ink and applied it to the card stock using small circular motions.  We then took a slightly damp soft rag and removed the excess ink.

The results was stunning.  To finish the card, we used Soft Suede card stock as our base. We used the Labels Collection Framelit Die to cut out the frame and then attached it to the base using dimensionals.  The butterfly came from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die set.  Using the butterfly as a pattern, I cut an additional butterfly using a scrap of DSP.  Tied the two butterflies together using a piece of twine coated with soft suede and attached using glue dots.   The "Happy Graduation" came from one of my favorite stamp sets - Teeny Tiny Wishes.
